Water Service Area: Over 400 miles of water line, covering the communities and towns of Rabbittown, Ashridge, Pleasant Hill, Antioch, Liberty Grove, Moreland, Grayson, Lakeshore, Fairview, Houston, and Double Springs, serving over 1800 customers.
Sewer Service Area: Over 10 miles of sewer line, covering areas inside the town limits of Double Springs.

Our goal is and always has been, to provide to you a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. The Town of Double Springs Water & Sewer Board purchases water from two different sources. Our major supplier is Arley Water Works, Arley AL. They have a surface water treatment plant obtaining their water from Smith Lake. Our other supplier is the City of Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board, Haleyville AL. They buy their water from the Upper Bear Creek Water, Sewer, and Fire Protection District, which have a surface water treatment plant obtaining water from Upper Bear Creek reservoir.

The water department now has all residential meters changed to radio read meters, which is a great benefit to both the Board and the customer. With the radio read meters we will know if the customer had a leak during the reading cycle and if requested can tell the customer when the leak started and how much was being consumed on an hour by hour basis.

With the addition of our new 300,000 gallon water tank beside Seymour-Bevil Daycare Center, the water department now has 650,000 gallons of water storage. This will provide over 1 ½ days of water in an emergency situation. The department is required to have 1 day of storage so by having this extra half day of storage the department has room to grow and expand to more areas that are in need of water.

The sewer department serves around 100 residential customers and 25 commercial customers with a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant, located on Bailey Road, with a flow capacity of 100,000 gallons per day.

If you have any questions or concerns with your water or sewer utilities, please contact Elmo Robinson or Ron Padgett at (205) 489-5447. We want our valued customers to be informed about their water utilities. If you want to learn more, please attend any of our regular scheduled meetings, which are held the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Double Springs City Hall, 21 Main Street at 5:30 p.m.

Payments can be made online at www.doublespringsutilitypay.com ($4.95 fee accessed by Court not the Board), in the office (21 Main St, Double Springs), or by mail (P.O. Box 279, Double Springs, AL 35553).
